Argentina announced squad for international friendlies

Argentina has named a 28-man squad for their upcoming international matches ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, led by talismanic forward Lionel Messi.
The La-Albiceleste will face Honduras in a friendly on September 23 and Jamaica on September 27. The first match will be held at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida, and the second at Red Bull Academy Training Field 1 in New Jersey.
Head coach Lionel Scaloni will hope to get all of his key players some playing time while also picking up two wins to keep their winning streak going.
The South American powerhouses are currently undefeated in 32 games. In their most recent match, they defeated Estonia 5-0 in a friendly back in June. They had previously defeated UEFA Euro 2020 champions Italy 3-0 in La Finalissima. In those two games, Lionel Messi scored five goals and provided two assists.

Goalkeepers: Franco Armani, Emiliano Martinez, Geronimo Rulli.
Defenders: Gonzalo Montiel, Nahuel Molina, German Pezzella, Cristian Romero, Neuhen Perez, Lisandro Martinez, Nicolas Otamendi, Marcos Acuna, Facundo Medina, Nicolas Tagliafico.
Midfielders: Leandro Paredes, Guido Rodriguez, Enzo Fernandez, Alexis Mac Allister, Rodrigo de Paul, Giovanni Lo Celso, Alejandro Gomez, Thiago Almada.
Attackers: Paulo Dybala, Angel Di Maria, Lionel Messi, Julian Alvarez, Joaquin Correa, Angel Correa, Lautaro Martinez.

Argentina has been assigned to Group C at this winter’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar, along with Poland, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico. La Albiceleste will begin their campaign on November 22 against the Saudi Arabians at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.

Lionel Scaloni’s team will go into the tournament as one of the favorites to win it all. The reigning Copa America champions have been on a roll in recent years, led by talismanic captain Lionel Messi.
They will also be overjoyed with Messi’s start to the new club season. In 10 games for Paris Saint-Germain in all competitions, the veteran forward has five goals and eight assists (PSG).
