Ashantigold is suspended unanimously by the GFA

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, unanimously resolved to suspend AshantiGold Sporting Club with immediate effect in accordance with Article 17(1) of the GFA Statutes.
This judgment was made because the club dealt with banned officials, Kwaku Frimpong and Emmanuel Frimpong which is a significant violation of both the GFA Statutes and the FIFA Statutes.
The GFA Disciplinary Committee banned Kwaku Frimpong and Emmanuel Frimpong for 10 and 8 years respectively, for match tampering.

The GFA Appeals Committee subsequently upheld the decisions.
The two banned officials did not file an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), as required by both the GFA Statutes and the FIFA Statutes, and the deadline for doing so had long passed.
However, AshantiGold SC continues to deal with and engage with the two banned officials, in breach of GFA Statutes Articles 9, 13, and 16, as well as related FIFA Statutes.

It should be noted that just 22 players have filed appeals and temporary measures (a stay of execution) before CAS, all of which have been granted.
As a result, the GFA has permitted the players to register and compete in GFA and international competitions until the final resolution of their cases by CAS.

The suspension of AshantiGold SC implies that the club would lose all membership privileges and will be unable to compete in any football competition, including the Ashanti Regional Football Association Division Two League.
In line with both the GFA Statutes and the FIFA Statutes, the GFA, its members, clubs, players, referees, and other football participants shall not deal or engage in any football-related activities (administrative, sporting, etc.) with the suspended AshantiGold SC and/or the banned officials.
