According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have the option of re-signing AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham, for around €80 million next summer due to a buy-back clause in his contract.

Abraham, who has four years remaining on his contract at the Stadio Olimpico, joined Roma from Chelsea last summer for €38 million. Last season, the 24-year-old established himself as a first-team starter, assisting the club in winning the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League.

Last season, the England international scored 27 goals and contributed five assists in 53 games as an all-around striker with physical prowess. This reintroduced him into England manager Gareth Southgate’s plans.

Romano stated in his column for Caught Offside that the Blues have a buy-back clause for their academy graduate. He did, however, add that the player is happy at the Serie A club right now. Romano stated:

“Yes, Chelsea have a €80 million buy-back clause in place for Tammy Abraham next summer, but Tammy is happy at Roma right now, and there are no talks or negotiations with any clubs.”
He continued:

“It’s really important to mention that he’s happy there now with Jose Mourinho as manager – the Portuguese has given him a chance to shine, and it’s been an important step for him in his career; so we’ll see about a Premier League return in the coming months or years.”
Abraham has had a slow start to the season, scoring just twice in eight games across all competitions.

Chelsea, on the other hand, has struggled in attack this season. While Timo Werner returned to his former club RB Leipzig this summer, club-record signing Romelu Lukaku was loaned out to Inter Milan following a disappointing 2021-22 season.

The Blues are currently relying on an aging Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, an injured Kai Havertz, and inexperienced Armando Broja. Chelsea currently sits seventh in the Premier League table, with ten points from six games. On Saturday, they will play Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Chelsea’s Kai Havertz is named the season’s flop by Gabriel Agbonlahor. Former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor identified Kai Havertz as an early Premier League flop of the season in an interview with talkSPORT. He stated:

“Last season, everyone said Havertz will be exciting next season; he’s gotten used to the PL season, but this season he looks lost.”
He continued:

“He’s not making use of his size and strength. He’s becoming frustrated, and he’s passing up opportunities that he shouldn’t be passing up.”
Havertz, 23, has only scored once this season in eight games.
