Erling Haaland of Manchester City, is having a fantastic 2022-23 season. The Norwegian international joined Cityzens from Borussia Dortmund, this summer for £51 million and has settled in perfectly in England.

He has dominated the Premier League and is aiming to lead Pep Guardiola’s side to a third consecutive league title. He currently leads the league in goals scored with 14 from eight games.

Not all Premier League players hit the ground running right away, but Haaland has made it look so easy.

The former Dortmund star has proven to be a natural goal scorer, smashing Premier League goalscoring records this season. If he maintains his current form, he will reach even more milestones.

As a result, we’ll look at four Premier League records he could break this season.

4. Premier League goals scored in a single season

In his first season in England, Haaland is on track to win the league’s Golden Boot. He is currently scoring nearly two goals per game (14 goals in eight matches).

If he continues to score at this rate, the Norwegian striker will have scored nearly 60 goals by the end of the season.

He has the potential to break Andy Cole’s, Alan Shearer’s, and Mohamed Salah’s single-season goal record.

Cole and Shearer both had 34 goals in the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons. That was back when a season consisted of 42 league games.

In the current league format, Salah holds the record. In the 2017-18 season, he scored 32 goals in 38 games.

Haaland needs 19 goals to break Salah’s record and 21 to break Cole and Shearer’s.

3. The number of hat-tricks in a single season

His most recent hat-trick came in a 6-3 thrashing of Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium in the Manchester derby.

Alan Shearer, a former Newcastle United and Premier League legend, currently holds the record for most hat-tricks in a single season. Shearer set a record with five hat-tricks in the 1995-96 season.

Haaland has 30 games left to score three more hat-tricks and break this record.

2. Most league goals in a row

Jamie Vardy of Leicester City currently holds the Premier League record for the longest goalscoring streak.

In the 2015-16 season, the Englishman set a record by scoring in 11 consecutive league matches. He surpassed the previous holder, Ruud van Nistelrooy, who scored in 10 consecutive games, with 12 goals in 11 games.

This record could be broken by Haaland. He has scored in each of his last six league games, totaling 12 goals. To break Vardy’s record, he must score in each of City’s next six league games.

Vardy finished the 2015-16 season with 23 goals to help Leicester City win the Premier League.

1. Manchester City player with the most league goals in a single season

Another record that the Manchester City star has the potential to break this season is the most league goals scored by a City player in a single season.

Haaland has 14 goals in eight games this season. To break Aguero’s record, he needs to win 13 more games out of 30.

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero holds the club’s all-time goal scoring record. In 390 games for the Cityzens, he scored 260 goals and assisted on 76 others. If he stays with the club for that long, Haaland will have his sights set on that record as well.
