NEWS NOW : Agent confirms Christian Atsu has been found dead
Former Everton, Newcastle and Chelsea player Christian Atsu is now confirmed to have perished in the massive earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria earlier this month.
According to his agent, the 31-year-old is still missing after his team-mates at club’s vice president Mustafa Ozat and the Ghana FA that Atsu had been found and taken to hospital “with injuries”.
Reports that the Ghanaian winger, who was in Turkey playing for Hatayspor in the Super Lig, had been pulled from the wreckage and taken to hospital were proved to be erroneous.
Christian Atsu’s Turkish agent Murat Uzun Mehmet has confirmed “Christian Atsu has been found dead”.
The 31-year-old has passed away following the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey’s south-eastern border 11 days ago and has claimed the lives of over 35,000 people.
Atsu is currently contracted to Turkish side Hatayspor and scored a spectacular 97th-minute free kick in their 1-0 win over Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig on 5 February.

Atsu was voted best player at the 2015 AFCON and also won the Nissan goal of the tournament at the 2015 AFCON, He represented Ghana at the 2015, 2017 and 2019 AFCON and 2014 World Cup
