Real Madrid top defender suffered injured scare
Real Madrid’s top defender suffered an injury while he was away on international duty, and it is expected that he will miss significant time.
During the first full evening of international competition, Real Madrid and Barcelona have both been afflicted with what is widely described to in Spain as the “FIFA virus.” This illness affects a team’s ability to compete in international competition.
It refers to the propensity for players to suffer injuries either during or immediately after a break for their nation’s participation in an international competition.
When the coaching staff at Barcelona found out that Memphis Depay had to leave the field because of an injury during the Netherlands’ 2-0 victory over Poland, they had to be disappointed.
In addition, Jules Kounde was only on the field for France for a total of 23 minutes before being yanked out of the game.
In a later period of that match, David Alaba, who was playing for Real Madrid, was taken out of play as well. Following the completion of 70 minutes of play, he was hauled out of the game due to an injury and replaced by Ralf Rangnick.
The fact that he was able to hobble off the field of play offered some consolation that the injury might not be as catastrophic as was initially believed to be the case.
Aurelien Tchouameni and Ferland Mendy were successful in putting a stop to the competition, and the French team went on to win 2-0 thanks in great part to the services of Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele.
Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti has Antonio Rudiger ready to play for the club in the event that David Alaba is injured and unable to participate in any of the future games for Los Blancos.
