Russia banned from all UEFA and FIFA competitions

The European Football Association (UEFA), has decided that Russia should not be allowed to participate in the Euro 2024 qualification process. This decision stems directly from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the conflict in February, the country and its clubs have been barred from participating in Uefa and Fifa competitions.
The qualifying draw for the 2024 European Championships, which Germany will host, will take place on October 9 in Frankfurt. On October 9, this event will take place.

Following the hearing of Russia’s court appeals, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decided in July that the country’s arguments against the suspensions that had been imposed would not be upheld.
On February 28, 2022, the UEFA executive council made the initial decision to exclude Russian teams from international competition. The Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld the decision on July 15th, 2022. This occurred in the year 2022.
Following their initial announcement, UEFA issued the following statement: “As a direct result of this, Russia will be excluded from the qualification draw for the UEFA European Football Championship 2022-24.”
Russia will not only be unable to compete in the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, but it will also be unable to compete in the qualifying play-offs for that competition, which were scheduled to take place in March. These playoffs were originally scheduled for March.

The women’s team will not compete in the European Championship, which will be held this summer, because they did not qualify. Portugal will participate in the competition.
Uefa has decided to end its sponsorship agreement with the Russian energy corporation Gazprom due to Russia’s club teams’ ineligibility to compete in the Champions League, Europa League, or Europa Conference League during the upcoming season.

Because Russia’s club teams will be ineligible to compete in any of these competitions, this decision was made. This decision became effective the moment it was made.
The Champions League final in 2022 will not take place in St. Petersburg as originally planned, but rather in Paris. This change comes after the event was originally scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg.
