Three top JHS to represent Eastern Region in National Championship

Abuakwa South Akooko Presby Primary, Kwahu East Tafo R/C JHS, and Somanya Presby No.2 JHS girls height champions in their various categories of the Eastern Region Basic Schools Championship in Koforidua.
The newly constructed Astro Turf in New Juaben South Constituency, Betom and Sarkodie to be precise was used for the two-day tournament.

Both Kwahu East Tafo R/C JHS male and Somanya Presby No.2 JHS female will represent the Eastern Region at the National Under 16 basic school championship in Accra this year.
Participating schools and individual players were commemorated with items from sponsors (Indomie and Promasidor company) and trophies were awarded to the three (3) schools that became first at the end of the competition.

At the end of the under 13 championship, Abuakwa South Akooko Presby Primary arose as Champions, Kwahu West Ekawso Presby was the runner while Denkyembour Deeper Life International and Upper Manya Akokomasisi M\A Primary placed 3rd and 4th.
Awuku Isaac of Akooko Presby Primary won the Best Goalkeeper, Agborlosu Richard of Deeper Life International was shortlisted as the Most Valuable Player, and Kwasi Gabriel of Akokomasisi M/A crown the top score at the end of the competition.

Elsewhere, Brako Samuel played an important role in Kwahu East, Tafo R/C JHS team to win the ultimate trophy and also scored four goals to win the top score in the men’s under 16 championships.
The high feelings on the side of Akooko JHS Goalkeeper, Adena Isaac granted him the best Goalkeeper, while Dankwa Jeff of Somanya Korm M/A was selected as the best player.

However, Somanya Presby No.2 Girls with their rich experience in the tournament made it again after being crowned as the winners after beating Osino D/A JHS girls 9-0 to cement their victory.
In that category, Christiana Ashiaku of Somanya No.2 Presby JHS star won the best player, Ruth Sackitey of the same school was the best goalkeeper and Belinda Kpente also a student in the said school crowned the goalqueen at the end.

Eastern Region basic school Somanya Presby No.2, was the runner-up in the maiden edition of the National Inter-Regional Basic Schools Championship which took place in Kumasi last year.
This year’s tournament introduced great talents who displayed a wonderful game to help fix the fundamentals of the game in Ghana.
